Commercial Accountant – Scunthorpe - Up to £54,000 + excellent benefits
We are delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking and commercially driven organisation to recruit a Commercial Accountant for a newly enhanced role within their finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to step into a high-impact, business-facing position, where you will play a key role in shaping financial insight, influencing strategic decisions, and supporting the continued growth of a diverse group of trading entities.
The Opportunity
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will act as the finance lead across multiple operational businesses, providing robust financial reporting, insightful analysis, and trusted commercial guidance.
This is far more than a traditional reporting role—you’ll be:
Partnering with operational teams to drive profitability and performance
Providing clear, actionable financial insight to support decision-making
Playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
Supporting commercial bids, pricing, and contract performance
Leading on process improvements and system enhancements
You’ll be embedded within the business, building strong relationships and ensuring finance is seen as a true value-adding partner.Key Responsibilities
Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including insightful commentary and variance analysis
Partner with operational stakeholders to understand performance drivers and improve outcomes
Support strategic planning, including budgets, forecasts, and 5-year plans
Provide financial input into tenders, pricing models, and new business opportunities
Monitor contract performance, including profitability and work-in-progress
Develop and enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting
Produce cash flow forecasts and monitor financial health across the business
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and commercial awarenessAbout You
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who is confident working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
A qualified accountant, later stages PQ or strong qualified by experience
Experienced in management accounting and financial analysis
Confident communicating financial information to a non-finance audience
Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
Highly proficient in Excel and finance systems
Experience within construction, contracting, or project-based environments would be highly advantageous.Why Apply?
