The Driver come Kitchen Assistant will support the daily kitchen operations, food transportation, and meal distribution activities within the centre.
The role involves preparing and delivering meals, maintaining hygiene and food safety standards, assisting with kitchen duties, and supporting classroom coverage during lunch periods. The position requires efficient time management, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced childcare or catering environment.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. This totals 25 paid working hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Clean and prepare food bags for daily meal distribution.
* Label food bags with correct meal numbers.
* Maintain and update food diary records.
* Record and monitor food temperatures in line with food safety procedures.
* Travel to the Harrow branch to collect lunches.
* Assist the chef with packing meals and preparing food items for delivery.
* Collect groceries such as milk and fruits from the centre as required.
* Distribute lunches to all classrooms accurately and efficiently.
* Ensure allergy meals and red plates are delivered correctly to the appropriate classrooms.
* Provide classroom cover during lunch breaks when required.
* Wash and clean all containers, dishes, and kitchen equipment until 1:30 PM.
* Prepare bags for afternoon tea service after the lunch break.
* Collect tea meals and distribute them to classrooms before the end of the working day.
* Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.
* Support the smooth daily operation of the kitchen and food service activities.
Requirements
* Full UK manual driving licence with the ability to carry out transportation duties.
* Previous experience in a childcare, catering, kitchen assistant, or food handling environment is desirable.
* Good understanding of hygiene and food safety practices.
* Organised and reliable with good time management skills.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately.
* Physically capable of carrying food containers and performing cleaning duties.
