About the Role
Futuresource Consulting is seeking a Primary Research Market Analyst to join its Storage Media team. This is a telephone research-focused role and is not suited to candidates from data analyst or data science background.
We are looking for someone with at least 2 years’ experience conducting large volume telephone and face-to-face research, particularly through direct engagement with industry stakeholders. Suitable candidates may have backgrounds as product managers, sales managers, or business development professionals seeking a career shift into market intelligence and research.
This role focuses on gathering and analysing market trends in HDD, SSD, DRAM, and flash memory, contributing to our industry tracking and advisory services. The successful candidate will deliver unique insights and qualitative research that informs strategic decisions for clients across technology vendors, manufacturers, and trade associations. You will build and nurture industry relationships to gather insights directly from market players through interviews and conversations, not spreadsheets. Your work will drive the narratives behind Futuresource’s proprietary analysis and thought leadership in this evolving sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Primary Research & Industry Engagement – Build and maintain relationships across the industry to collect firsthand insights. This will involve interviews, calls, and conversations with stakeholders across the storage media sector (HDD, SSD, DRAM, flash memory).
* Insight Development – Synthesise qualitative data from research engagements to identify emerging trends, market shifts, and strategic insights.
* Client Insight Delivery – Translate your findings into clear, concise insights for clients via reports, presentations, and briefings.
* Advisory Support – Respond to client queries and requests, offering thoughtful commentary on current and emerging developments.
* Data Collaboration – Collaborate with our internal data team to validate, contextualise, and help structure datasets provided by industry sources. Your role will ensure data accuracy and consistency based on your primary research findings.
* Internal Collaboration – Share insights with internal teams to inform wider analysis and support the development of reports and forecasts.
* External Representation – Participate in industry engagement activities, contributing to Futuresource’s reputation as a trusted source of intelligence and analysis.
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 2 years’ experience conducting B2B primary research (e.g., market research, user research, stakeholder engagement, or account-based insight gathering)
* Strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders
* Commercial awareness and understanding of how businesses operate within a technology value chain
* High level of organisation, attention to detail, and time management skills
* Ability to interpret qualitative feedback and synthesise key findings
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Curious, self-driven, and eager to build industry knowledge
