Whats the role all about? As a Housing Case Officer, youll be at the heart of our Homelessness Prevention Service in North East Lincolnshire. Youll provide tailored housing advice and support to people facing housing difficulties, helping them to stay in or move to safe, suitable, and affordable accommodation. Youll manage a varied caseload, make statutory homelessness decisions, and work closely with partners across the housing, health, and support sectors to ensure the best outcomes for our residents. What will your day look like? No two days are ever the same in this role. Youll be working directly with households who need support to prevent or relieve homelessness, including refugees and care experienced young people. Youll be out and about across North East Lincolnshire, meeting clients face-to-face or visiting them at home to assess their housing needs. Youll create personalised housing plans and support people to take the steps needed to secure safe, stable accommodation. Whether youre negotiating with landlords, attending court, or helping someone transition from Home Office accommodation, youll be making a real difference. Youll also work closely with victims of domestic abuse, attend multi-agency meetings like MARAC and MAPPA, and stay up to date with housing legislation and council policies. Alongside this, youll advocate for clients and connect them with services that can help with budgeting, debt, or health-related challenges. Youll be confident, compassionate, and capable of navigating complex cases with professionalism and care. Strong organisational, interviewing, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a sound understanding of housing legislation, domestic abuse, and restorative approaches.
