Apply for the Children and Young People Workstream Lead – Preston Place Partnership – Job Opportunity with Active Lancashire.

Hours: 2 days a week (secondment model, collaboration agreement with host organisation). Working arrangements can be discussed.
Duration: 12 months – December 2025 to end of November 2026 (potential extension).
Salary: £39,862 to £42,839 pro‑rata (Negotiable).
Working Arrangements: 1 day per week agile working, Thursday (TBC) based at the Preston Place Partnership Office, Fulwood Leisure Centre. Significant time required supporting stakeholders and communities across Preston.
Closing Date: Sunday 30th November 2025 at midnight.
Interviews: Friday 12th December 2025.

Preston is one of 80 Sport England Place Expansion localities. The focus areas include Children and Young People, Places and Spaces to be Active, Health and Messaging related to physical activity. Over the next twelve months the partnership will deepen these themes to shape future work and identify enablers and barriers for change.


About The Role

* Work closely with the two other Children and Young People Leads, stakeholders and the community to shape and deliver work that supports children and young people in Preston to move more.
* Support conversations with children and young people to understand barriers, enablers and necessary changes.
* Ensure children and young people have a voice, providing space and time to design, shape and lead work.
* Co‑design action plans using insights about children and young people.
* Support test‑and‑learn activities based on gathered insights.
* Work with the Communications Lead to produce digestible, relevant content for diverse audiences, including reporting to Sport England.
* Work with the Evaluation and Learning Lead to record key findings and insights.
* Build trusted relationships with stakeholders to lay foundations for long‑term change that raises the profile of movement and physical activity for children and young people and their caregivers.
* Collaborate with the Place Programme Manager, other Thematic Leads and Strategic Leads from Active Lancashire & Preston City Council to share insights and advance the application to full award.


About The Person

* Passion for working with children and young people and supporting their voices in relevant work.
* Ability to develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ability to bring together diverse people, support collaboration, and facilitate from the sidelines.
* Excellent communicator with adaptability to audiences for clear understanding.
* Ability to interpret learning and insights to support appropriate planning for children and young people in Preston.
* Understanding of the current physical activity landscape, policies, national guidelines, and at least one area relating to children and young people (e.g., early years, education, or community).
* Experience working with children and young people.
* Open‑minded to new ways of working, willingness to adopt alternative approaches, and enthusiasm for embedding and sharing new learnings within host organisation.

**Note:** An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
