We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about people to join our People & Culture team. Not someone who talks about caring about people in an interview. Someone who actually does it — who notices when someone’s energy has shifted on a video call, who remembers that an instructor mentioned a tough week last month, and who understands that the ten minutes of real conversation at the end of a check-in are often more important than the structured agenda at the start.
About Us
Chilli Pilates is one of the UK’s leading independent Reformer Pilates brands. We run 14 studios across the Home Counties and we continue to grow! Our instructors are the reason our members come back. Keeping our instructors supported, developed, and connected to something bigger than a timetable slot is what this role exists to do.
The Role
You’ll be one of two People Managers responsible for our instructor team. Your main job is conducting structured monthly 1:1 video calls with your assigned instructors — about 25–30 of them. You’ll also support new instructors through their training period with weekly check-ins.
These aren’t box-ticking exercises. Each meeting has 15 minutes of real preparation (you’ll review dashboards, previous notes, and performance data before the call), a 30-minute conversation, and 15 minutes to write up notes and flag anything that needs attention. You’ll know your instructors properly. You’ll spot problems before they become resignations. You’ll celebrate wins that would otherwise go unnoticed.
You won’t be bogged down in admin. We have a support team that handles mileage claims, pay queries, onboarding paperwork, and system troubleshooting. Your job is the conversation, the relationship, and the judgement that comes with knowing someone well enough to notice when something’s off.
What You’ll Actually Do
* Monthly 1:1 video calls with 25–30 instructors, following a structured framework
* Weekly coaching check-ins with new instructors during their training period
* Review instructor performance dashboards and quality data to inform your conversations
* Flag retention risks, wellbeing concerns, and development opportunities to senior leadership
* Work alongside our support team — you redirect admin queries, you don’t resolve them
* Contribute to improving the programme itself — your observations shape how we evolve it
What We’re Looking For
* Real experience in a people-facing role — team leadership, people management, HR, coaching
* Emotional intelligence that isn’t just a line on your CV — you build trust and you read people well
* Comfort with data — you can read a dashboard and use it to ask better questions, not just tick boxes
* Strong written communication — your notes are clear, concise, and useful
* Self-motivation — this is fully remote; you manage your own schedule and your own standards
Fitness or wellness sector experience is a bonus, not a requirement. The people skills matter more.
What We Offer
* Fully remote — work from anywhere with reliable internet and UK-hours availability (typically 8am–6pm London time)
* A structured programme you’re delivering, not inventing from scratch
* A team that’s growing. There is a genuine career path here
* Direct line to our Chief People Officer and regular senior leadership interaction
The Small Print
This is a permanent, full-time role (we’re flexible on exact hours). You must be available during UK working hours for instructor calls. Beyond that, we don’t mind where you are — whether that’s Hertfordshire or the Algarve, as long as your internet is reliable and your background is professional on camera.
