Overview

We’re recruiting for two pathways into this role. If you already hold the required qualification or equivalent, we’d love to hear from you. If not, you can join us without the qualification as long as you’re happy to complete it once you start your employment at Codi — and we’ll arrange everything and cover the full cost. Please indicate on your application which pathway you’re applying for. In this vital role within our Property Safety team, you’ll support our student accommodation across Bangor and Aberystwyth University, working with our Group Fire Safety Lead and colleagues to help ensure communal areas and student flats remain compliant, well-maintained, and safe. Your responsibilities include carrying out fire door inspections and minor repairs, regularly testing essential fire safety systems, and checking communal spaces to identify and report any health, safety, or fire risks.

Who are Codi Group?

Codi is a not-for-profit with a big heart and an even bigger mission. As Wales’ largest provider of housing, care, and support, we help people live well, feel supported, and rise to their full potential. We look after almost 25,000 homes across Wales and are gearing up to build more than 4,500 new ones in the next five years. Every day, our teams support nearly 17,000 individuals with services that make a real and uplifting difference to people’s everyday lives. With over 3,000 colleagues, Codi is a major player in the Welsh economy—powered by strong partnerships, shared values, and a genuine love for helping communities thrive. Our name means rise in Welsh and reflects who we are and our ambition to lift expectations, lift communities, and lift each other.

About the role

We’re recruiting for full-time, permanent Fire Safety Maintenance Inspectors to join our Property Safety team. The role offers a balanced mix of site visits, office time, and home working, giving you flexibility while ensuring a strong connection with the team. You’ll travel to student accommodation to carry out essential fire safety inspections and minor maintenance, with a company van, fuel card, and all necessary equipment provided. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the need to travel independently between multiple sites. If you’re passionate about creating safer homes and want a role where every day brings variety, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.

Skills and Experience Needed

To be considered for the Tier 2 role, you’ll need to hold an A FDIS qualification, or equivalent. If you do not hold this qualification or equivalent, but you are committed to achieving it once you start employment with a training agreement in place, we’d love you to apply for the Tier 1 role with the view to move to Tier 2 once the qualification has been achieved. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience working with fire doors, experience carrying out non-technical fire and smoke alarm testing, and a solid understanding of key health and safety procedures, including working at height and other relevant safety practices. You must be able and willing to work independently using lone-working equipment provided to ensure safety and compliance. The ability to carry out basic building maintenance and repairs is important, as is a commitment to ongoing training and personal development.
