We have an exciting opportunity at Intrum UK for a junior In-house Legal Assistant to join our growing Legal Team. Reporting directly to the UK Legal Director, you’ll play a key role in providing legal advice under English law across a wide range of corporate matters. You’ll support the resolution of complex defended actions and claims, while delivering practical, business-focused legal support to teams across the UK.

As you grow in the role, you’ll take on additional responsibilities that broaden your expertise and support your career progression, alongside opportunities to collaborate with colleagues globally and gain valuable exposure beyond the UK.

You can be based from our Reigate, Manchester or Glasgow offices, with the flexibility of hybrid working.

What you will do:

* Support corporate housekeeping and day-to-day legal operations, working closely with UK and Group stakeholders

* Review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including NDAs, data processing agreements, supplier agreements, and client sale, purchase or servicing contracts

* Draft and review legal documentation, and actively participate in internal and external meetings and negotiations, including arranging and minuting meetings where required

* Ensure all UK legal activity is compliant with English law, regulatory requirements, and Group policies and guidelines

* Act as a key point of contact with external bodies such as Companies House, the Land Registry and the courts

* Assist with complex defended actions and claims against the company, liaising with external counsel and supporting the drafting of pleadings

* Devoted to the FCA principle of Consumer Duty, by ensuring we are driving good customer outcomes across all aspects of services that have potential to impact our customers.


Additional responsibilities (growing over time)

* Support the UK Legal Director, Group Legal and the Intrum Investment team on new portfolio acquisitions and a broad range of transactions led by the UK investment function

* Support the UK Legal Director, Group Legal and the Intrum Client Services team on new servicing contracts, as well as the ongoing monitoring and management of existing agreements

What we’re looking for:

* A law degree and/or LPC/BVC qualification

* Experience gained in a fast-paced law firm or in-house legal environment would be advantageous

* Demonstrable experience across general corporate matters, including contract review, data protection and dispute resolution

* Strong ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, with excellent stakeholder management skills

* A genuine interest in financial topics, including regulated consumer debt

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good research capability and a high level of attention to detail
