We’re working with a high-achieving 11–18 secondary school looking for an outstanding Physics specialist to take on the role of Second in Science. You’ll support the Head of Department in driving standards, shaping curriculum delivery, and leading innovation while continuing to inspire students through your own excellent teaching.
About the Role
As Second in Science, you’ll:
1. Support the Head of Science in leading and managing the department
2. Drive high-quality teaching and learning across Physics, Biology, and Chemistry
3. Lead curriculum development and assessment in Physics up to A-Level
4. Mentor and support colleagues, including ECTs, to develop their practice
5. Track progress, analyse data, and implement strategies to raise attainment
6. Organise and promote enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and trips
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
7. Holds QTS and has a strong track record teaching Physics across KS3–KS5
8. Has proven leadership or responsibility experience within a science department
9. Brings a passion for Physics and the ability to inspire all learners
10. Is confident using data to inform planning and raise achievement
11. Builds positive relationships and fosters a collaborative team culture
12. Must have UK schools experience. We cannot offer sponsorship.
