Job Description:
SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an Acquisition Search Director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specializes in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other businesses engage our client to undertake a bespoke acquisition search process, uncovering target businesses within their specific criteria and facilitating introductions. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management in the following areas:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients at board level.
* Liaise with the research team to identify businesses within the client’s search criteria. The research will be conducted by an in-house team.
* Approach majority shareholders of target businesses and conduct detailed, highly commercial conversations via video calls to discuss business models, track record, growth, financials, and owner’s selling aspirations.
* Discuss potential targets with clients and facilitate introductions to selected businesses.
* Manage the acquisition process relationship thereafter, requiring strong commercial acumen but not financial qualifications.
Applicants should be able to understand various business models quickly. Experience operating at board level is important, as you will manage relationships with owner/CEO level contacts, including large corporates, private equity firms, and private equity-backed businesses.
Applicants from diverse commercial backgrounds will be considered, including those who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary with an attractive, transparent bonus scheme paid multiple times a year based on deal activity. Bonuses are uncapped, with potential earnings of 100% of salary or more in a good year.
