Home Manager – Semi-Independent Services
* Annual Salary: £50,000 per annum
* Location: Barnet
* Job Type: Full-time, Permanent - 40 hours per week (includes some evening and weekend shifts + on-call duties)
Reed, in partnership with a leading charity for children and young people, is recruiting for a Home Manager. This role is with the supported housing provider for the London Accommodation Pathfinder. A London-wide service aimed at improving accommodation and outcomes for young people aged 16 to 17 who are in contact with the youth justice system and at risk of custody (remand or sentence). This position focuses on enhancing outcomes for these young individuals. As a Home Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to creating a trauma-informed environment and supporting young people through education, training, and independent living skills
Day-to-day of the role:
* Safeguard young people through effective management strategies, collaborative work with external agencies, and adherence to local authority safeguarding procedures.
* Work closely with local authorities to reduce young people’s offending behaviour and support them in completing their court orders.
* Provide regular supervision for staff, assess training needs, and deliver training and coaching as needed.
* Operate housing management policies and practices effectively, including maximising income and managing licenses.
* Maintain appropriate staff cover in the home by producing rotas and recruiting locum covers when necessary.
* Ensure a trauma-informed environment is maintained at all times within the home.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Relevant qualification in Social Work, Probation, Youth Justice, Children’s Residential Care, or Youth Work.
* At least three years’ experience in providing leaving care, housing support, or residential care to children and young people.
* At least one year’s experience in effectively managing a supported accommodation or residential service for children and young people.
* Good understanding of contextual safeguarding, The Children’s Act 1989, and the Supported Accommodation Standards and Regulations 2023.
* Thorough knowledge of issues related to young people’s offending, including alcohol/drug dependency and mental health.
* Understanding of restorative justice and the challenges non-white young people face within the criminal justice system.
* Familiarity with the welfare benefits system and resources relevant to supporting young people, particularly Youth Offending Services.
* Awareness of Health and Safety and GDPR Regulations.
