Senior Bid Writer
Permanent position located in Preston.

Senior Bid Writer role responsible for lead coordination and preparation of high‑quality PQQ and tender submissions, combining strong bid writing capability with light bid management responsibilities.
The role ensures tenders are well planned, compliant, persuasive and submitted on time, while supporting the Preconstruction team in managing multiple short‑duration tenders efficiently.
This position acts as the Bid Lead for smaller tenders, coordinating contributors while producing high‑quality written responses. It also offers an opportunity to further develop within the business as the civil team grows.
Key Responsibilities (Process Leadership)
* Act as Bid Lead—manage the process from opportunity approval to submission.
* Produce bid programme and submission plan.
* Organise bid kick‑off meetings.
* Allocate responsibilities for bid inputs.
* Coordinate contributions from estimators, planners and operational staff.
* Track progress against deadlines.
* Manage tender clarifications.
* Ensure compliance with client requirements.
* Assemble and submit final tender documentation.
* Ensure bids progress efficiently through the internal Lean Tender Process.
Bid Writing & Content Development
* Write clear, persuasive responses to PQQs, tenders and framework submissions.
* Translate technical information into structured, client‑focused responses.
* Develop methodology responses, project approaches and value proposals.
* Review and improve contributions from technical team members.
* Edit and proofread submissions to ensure clarity and consistency.
* Ensure responses align with identified win themes.
* Liaise with operational teams, estimators, planners and commercial staff to gather technical inputs.
* Extract knowledge from subject matter experts and convert it into scoring‑focused responses.
* Gather project data and evidence to support tender responses.
* Research client priorities and project context where required.
Key Skills & Knowledge
* Strong bid writing experience.
* Experience coordinating tender submissions.
* Construction or civil engineering sector experience desirable.
* Ability to analyse tender questions and scoring criteria.
* Skilled at extracting technical knowledge from subject.
