This is the opportunity to join an excellent independent accountancy firm who have offices in Glasgow city centre and the west coast of Scotland. The firm offers a full range of services including audit, accounts, and advisory with a client-centric focus. The firm is able to offer an inclusive, friendly working environment to all staff in what is a highly-supportive environment. The firm's two flagship offices are based on the west coast of Scotland and offer on-site parking whilst their city-centre office is easily accessible via public transport. The firm works hours between Monday - Friday.
Your new role
In your new role, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients alongside a team of more junior staff; the key duties of the role include:
1. Lead, plan and deliver andplete a broad range ofmercial and charity audits, liaising with the team and client where necessary.
2. Monitor and control all staff involved in the audit team/process.
3. Preparation andpletion of financial statements for limitedpanies, partnerships, sole traders and all other businesses as appropriate.
4. Drafting corporation tax returns for limitedpanies and self-assessment tax returns for individuals/partnerships to be reviewed by the tax manager.
5. Acting as a key point of contact for clients and building/maintaining client relationships.
6. Undertaking full responsibility for the proper maintenance of a client’s accounting, related obligations and liaising with the Tax team where necessary.
7. Coaching and developing trainees, ensuring full instructions are given and all tasks undertaken are subject to review.
8. Regularmunication with partners and senior managers in connection with progress on all assignments.
9. Regular updating of accounts and tax workflows to ensure all stages of job/assignment progression are properly recorded.
10. Undertake internal and external training appropriate to your professional body, your role and career progression.
11. Ad hoc and project work as required and any other duties reasonably required by thepany.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a similar role within a practice accountancy firm and hold a professional qualification such as ICAS, ACCA or similar. You must have experience managing your own portfolio of clients within the charities / not-for-profit sector and be technically proficient in audit and accounts. Ideally, you will be familiar with software such as Sage, Xero and Quickbooks alongside all Microsoft packages and be an excellentmunicator who isfortable carrying out client-facing work. You will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
