Job Description
We're working with a design-led structural and civil engineering consultancy-based Weybridge, looking to appoint a Chartered Senior Structural Engineer to join their close-knit team.
The consultancy operates more like a design studio than a corporate machine, 10 staff members, no red tape, and a portfolio that spans bespoke residential, heritage refurbishments, schools, retail and leisure, and occasional mixed-use schemes. Projects typically range up to £5 million, with affiliate involvement in developments up to £60-75 million.

You'll be reporting directly to the directors, taking ownership of technical delivery while mentoring junior staff and contributing to client-facing work.
Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview
* Lead structural design on residential refurbishments, extensions, new-builds, and occasional commercial/educational projects-typically £500k-£5m in value.
* Prepare structural calculations using Tekla and TEDDS, ensuring all designs meet current codes and standards.
* Oversee production of drawings in collaboration with in-house technicians or external drafts people; review and redline as needed.
* Attend client and design team meetings, representing the consultancy with confidence and clarity-either solo or alongside a director.
* Visit sites (within 45 mins travel) to carry out inspections, site surveys, or review construction progress.
* Mentor junior engineers, reviewing their calcs, guiding their development, and helping uphold quality across the board.
* Contribute to project delivery, from concept through to construction, including preparing reports, specifications, and liaising with contractors.
* Coordinate with architects and other consultants to resolve design queries and ensure buildability.
* Feed into internal design reviews-bringing technical rigour, fresh ideas, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Senior Structural Engineer Job Requirements
* Chartered status (IStructE or equivalent)
* 5+ years' experience in consultancy
* Proficiency in Tekla and TEDDS
* Strong design and calculation capability
* Confident communicator, client-facing experience essential
* A genuine interest in mentoring junior engineers
* Willing to travel to local sites (within 45 mins of the office)
Senior Structural Engineer Salary & Benefits
* Salary: £48,000 - £65,000 - Depending on experience
