Responsibilities
* Be an autonomous practitioner within the OPAT team, delivering high standard of care to patients with complex infections
* Provide patient/family education in hospital and outpatient settings to maintain condition and prevent hospital admission
* Manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance
* Assess and treat patients in OPAT clinics and as inpatients prior to discharge; contribute to consultancy, teaching, audit, research, and service development
* Carry out technical/physical aspects of care for the defined patient group, including complex IV administration therapies, venipuncture / cannulation / phlebotomy
* Travel across Greater Glasgow & Clyde to support OPAT service and consult patients as required; driving licence essential
* Maintain IT competence (e-forms, Trakcare, portal) and comply with mandatory training modules relevant to this specialty
* Support service development with the team lead and uphold service objectives for delivering specialised care
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must be an NMC Registered Adult Nurse
* Ability to work independently with high-level interpersonal and communication skills; manage telephone consultations, patient referrals, and liaise with hospital clinicians and general practitioners
* Evidence of capability to work across OPAT departments and travel to support the service
* Knowledge and competence to perform IV therapies and related procedures
* Membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG is required
* All statutory/mandatory LearnPro training modules must be compliant and include educational modules relevant to this specialty
Role Details
* Shift pattern: Monday - Sunday, 8am - 4pm
* Service covers across GG & C with city-wide working
* Post spans across GG&C; based in South / South West Glasgow
* Clinical Nurse Specialist role includes consultancy, teaching, management, and research within OPAT
