Health Care Assistant - Clinical Assessment Unit
We are seeking a motivated Health Care Assistant to join the Clinical Assessment Unit in a fast-paced acute medicine setting. The post offers training and professional support, with opportunities to develop knowledge and experience in patient care within our team.
Location: CAU The Rochdale Infirmary, Whitehall Street, Rochdale, OL12 0NB. Band 3, Permanent, Full-time. Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 per year.
Responsibilities
* Support patients with activities of daily living and personal hygiene, promoting independence
* Assist and support with patient theatre admissions and escorting
* Perform timely clinical interventions: venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, collection of bloods, equipment gathering for nursing interventions, and physiological observations
* Prepare and transfer patients to discharge lounges or other destinations
* Prepare clinical areas for new patients and support admissions
* Support bed moves within the clinical area, including using Patient Centre and other relevant programmes
* Educate new staff on ward processes
* Support mandatory training and participate in training delivery where appropriate
* Contribute to patient safety during meals and periods of enhanced observation
* Support individualised patient care and assist with quality review
Qualifications
* Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
* Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Essential: Experience as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in health or social care
* Experience working within a team
* Desirable: Interest or experience in supporting other healthcare staff and learners; commitment to CPD
Skills & Abilities
* Good communication (written and verbal) skills
* Basic IT skills
* Good organisational skills
