The Role
As a Senior Social Worker in the Pre-Birth Team, the successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to make an impactful difference in the lives of families and unborn children. The role will involve managing a small, focused caseload of unborn children, providing attentive, personalised care. The social worker will:
* Undertake comprehensive pre-birth assessments to plan and prepare necessary support for expecting families.
* Deliver intense interventions and individual support tailored to the needs of pregnant families, ensuring safety and stability.
* Continue care for babies once they are born, ensuring continuity and a sense of security.
* Address cases where babies are subject to Interim Care Orders and in care proceedings, ensuring thorough management through to final hearings.
* Engage in court work, providing precise documentation and informed recommendations for final hearings.
* Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced social workers regarding complex pre-birth assessments and legal processes.
* Prepare high-quality, analytical, and evidence-based reports for Child Protection Conferences, Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings, and court proceedings.
* Maintain accurate, concise, and timely electronic case records in line with statutory requirements and Birmingham City Council policies.
