Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support Location: Sheffield Salary: £460 – £650 per week Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day Start Date: Immediately GSL Education is looking for energetic and motivated individuals with a sports, coaching, or fitness background to work in secondary school settings across Sheffield. These roles are school-based support positions where you will assist with learning, supervise classes, and help students stay engaged and on track throughout the school day. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to transition from sport or fitness into education, using coaching-style skills such as structure, communication and behaviour management to support young people in a classroom environment. About the Role: This is a school-based support role, not a sports coaching position. You will be working within secondary classrooms providing learning support, behaviour support, cover supervision, and targeted assistance where needed. Your sports background is valuable for building rapport, maintaining structure, and encouraging positive engagement, but your main focus will be supporting learning. Key Responsibilities: Support teachers in delivering classroom-based learning activities Supervise lessons as cover or learning support staff Provide behaviour support to help maintain a positive learning environment Assist with classroom organisation and student engagement Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis where required Use transferable skills from sport to encourage focus, discipline and participation Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive classroom setting Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour Requirements: Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth work, or similar people-focused roles Confidence working with young people in a school environment Strong communication and behaviour management skills Calm, adaptable and professional approach Ability to support learning in a structured classroom setting Reliable and committed attitude This is a fantastic opportunity for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional in Sheffield to move into secondary education and build valuable classroom experience while supporting student development.
