Registered Night Nurse

About the Role
We are looking for a qualified registered nurse with a current NMC pin who prefers to work nights.
Night nurses are usually the most senior person on site during night shifts and take charge in the event of emergencies, keeping the security and safety of residents and the home in general.
You will lead a team of carers, have lead clinical responsibility, provide advice and guidance where necessary, and ensure high standards of nursing and personal care are met.
You will deliver, monitor, and re‑evaluate care needs in partnership with each resident, key carers, family members and the wider team, liaising effectively with GPs, hospitals and external agencies.
The role offers greater flexibility in working patterns, more autonomy with decision making, and the opportunity to build close relationships with residents in a consultative, case‑management role.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse, registered with NMC.
* Post‑registration experience and evidence of continuing professional development.
* Comfortable taking charge and evidence of leadership experience.
* Clear understanding of regulatory frameworks and willingness to train in:
o Medication administration
o Catheterisation
o End‑of‑life care
o Verification of death
o Syringe drivers
o Gastrostomy care
o Venepuncture
o Diabetic awareness
o Tissue viability
o Epilepsy awareness
o Management of deterioration and sepsis awareness
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships.

About the Home
Chesham Leys care home is located close to Chesham town centre, on a local bus route, and provides care for 62 residents in a purpose‑built nursing home. Individual rooms can be personalised to be as homely as possible, with three floors each having its own character and shared spaces.
