What you’ll be doing

* Identify and proactively report HSE/Compliance/Design issues to our Power Environmental or Power Technical Support teams.
* Own designated patch and sites to contribute towards area, regional and unit objectives.
* Share best practice, support colleagues in applying new ideas, technologies or processes.
* Take responsibility & ownership of critical and urgent network repair/provision/maintenance activity.
* Execute prioritised work items ensuring alignment with the wider team and unit priorities through coordination with patch managers and senior colleagues.
* Perform risk assessment for health and safety.
* Raise issues/risks to more senior individuals to facilitate change.
* Understand what is expected and proactively take opportunities to increase your own skills.


What you’ll bring

* Must be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role – bend, stretch, kneel, crouch, climb, work at floor and ceiling level inside buildings, tower structures and road side infrastructure, lift heavy drums/cables and recognise coloured wiring.
* Full UK manual driving licence.
* Ability to travel across Cambridge and surrounding areas, Duxford – Great Chesterford area – South Cambridgeshire.


Mandatory experience/qualifications

* Electrical competency – City & Guilds 2360 parts 1+2 or equivalent NVQ.
* BTEC Electrical Engineering Level 3, HNC, HND, MOET Level 3, ET Level 3 or equivalent.
* Full UK manual driving licence.


Preferred experience/qualifications

* 18th Edition Regulations or current electrical regulations.
* Inspection, Testing and Verification (C&G 2392-10).
* Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
* HVAC Refrigeration C&G/NVQ Level 3.
* F-GAS Category 1.
* Demonstrable experience of repairing and maintaining Air Conditioning Split systems.
* Experience of working with DC power systems.
* Coaching, mentoring, supervisory experience.
* Ability to participate in a Formal On Call Framework (e.g., 1 in 4 attendance).


Contract Details

Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent. Location: Cambridge, UK. Visa Sponsorship available.


Training Provided (Entry Level)

Comprehensive technical training pathway covering maintenance activities, face‑to‑face, virtual, internal and external delivery methods, including overnight stays and travel. You will also contribute to out‑of‑hours callout through a Formal On Call Framework, to support 24/7 service as needed.

An important part of Network Engineering – leading by example, sharing knowledge, supporting new individuals, and living by the BT values. As a member of the Networks Field Engineering team, you are expected to contribute to area, regional, and unit objectives.
