As a Vehicle Mechanic at Babcock, you will be part of a skilled team maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of military vehicles and electrical equipment. This hands‑on role directly supports operational readiness and national defence.
Role Overview
You’ll carry out diagnostics, inspections, servicing and repairs to ensure vehicles and equipment meet the highest standards. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to grow your skills and contribute to meaningful work.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Diagnose and inspect vehicles and mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Ensure correct use of stores and equipment, returning unused or faulty items.
- Create job cards and request materials using ERP systems (SAP).
- Complete documentation, test certificates and reports to current standards.
- Work to customer specifications, regulations and technical publications.
Successful candidates must pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination. The role involves manual work, lifting, bending, use of tools or standing for extended periods. Working hours Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience in a dealership or local garage setting.
- Strong team player with adaptability and rapport‑building skills.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
