The Housing Assistant will support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services, including:
* Interviewing and advising customers on their housing prospects and needs
* Interviewing customers at tenancy sign-up and during key tenancy changes, including termination
* Maximising the income for the Council and minimising rent arrears
Requirements include relevant experience dealing with the public both in person and on the telephone, working with figures, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of housing services such as estate management and debt recovery, along with effective customer service and communication skills, are essential. Numeracy skills and the confidence to handle upset or angry customers are also required.
The role requires initiative in decision-making and flexibility to work at different locations or hours as needed. A National Certificate in Housing (or equivalent) is desirable.
This is a temporary post, subject to business needs and funding, for 1 year or until the requirement ceases, whichever comes first.
