We are recruiting an Operations Engineer on behalf of a major public-sector organisation responsible for the management and development of regional waterway and land-based infrastructure.
This is a varied and rewarding role involving the supervision of maintenance and construction works, oversight of contractors, and involvement in improvement projects across a large geographical area. The position includes engagement with community and user groups, as well as participation in an emergency response rota (with additional annual remuneration).

Key Responsibilities

Supervise maintenance, repair and construction works across regional infrastructure.

Conduct site inspections, surveys, assessments and prepare technical reports.
*
Coordinate with contractors, consultants and design teams.
*
Support project planning, tender preparation, procurement and project delivery.
*
Monitor performance, budgets, programmes and safety compliance.
*
Engage with residents, landowners, community groups and recreational users.
*
Assist with environmental compliance and liaison with regulatory bodies.
*
Enforce bylaws and manage safe use of navigation routes and associated assets.
*
Participate in an out-of-hours emergency response rota.
Requirements
Essential:
*
Level 8 degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum 2:2).
*
Minimum one year of operational engineering experience.
*
Full driving licence and access to transport.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practice.
*
Ability to use engineering software, surveying tools or design systems.
*
Strong organisational, project management and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
*
Experience of working in water-based or marine environments.
*
Awareness of environmental legislation relating to infrastructure projects.
