As of September 2025, Brownhill Learning Community will defederate into two separate entities: a specialist SEMH Special School led by Narda Sestanovic and a Pupil Referral Service (PRS) led by Dave Shields. Both schools have updated staffing structures aimed at enhancing learner engagement, wellbeing, and learning.
The Special School, located in Heywood, Rochdale, will serve learners in KS2-KS4, focusing on a nurturing, trauma-informed, inclusive, and aspirational environment tailored to individual needs.
The PRS, based across three sites within Rochdale Borough, will cater for pupils in KS2-KS4. We seek candidates committed to working with vulnerable pupils, passionate about their role, and determined to help young people overcome barriers to success.
This is an exciting new chapter for both schools, both seeking Maths Teachers.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join our supportive team. The role involves delivering engaging and differentiated maths lessons to secondary students with SEN and SEMH needs. You will help students develop mathematical understanding, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning. A passion for maths and a commitment to supporting students with additional needs are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess differentiated maths lessons for secondary students with SEN and SEMH needs.
* Develop individualised learning plans to meet each student's needs and ensure curriculum access.
* Use creative teaching methods to foster positive attitudes towards maths, developing skills and confidence.
* Support students with emotional and behavioural challenges using strategies like restorative practices and positive reinforcement.
* Monitor student progress through assessments and feedback, providing targeted interventions.
* Collaborate with professionals, including SLT, teaching assistants, SENCOs, and staff, to support students holistically.
* Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and encouraged.
Applicants from MS1-UPS3 with an additional SEN point 1 award are welcome.
Visits to the current Special School (Heights Lane, Rochdale) are encouraged on Friday 13th June, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
