Based within Neighbourhood and Regeneration Services, the Graduate Structural Engineer will be a key member of the Structural Engineering team helping to deliver the Council’s capital programme.
The post holder will have responsibility for helping the delivery of structural engineering related outputs to quality, time and cost across a portfolio of projects. In the role, you will require to carry out structural design works including calculations, detailing and drafting. Additional duties may include structural investigations, site surveys and feasibility assessments.
The post holder will provide support to the structural engineering design lead and will report to the Assistant Group Manager. You will require to liaise with architects, other engineering disciplines and clients whilst carrying out design duties and participate in design meetings. You will also have to take an active role onsite during critical stages of construction to monitor quality and to provide technical support to contractors.
Due to the nature of the role, it is important that you have good communication and interpersonal skills to allow you to work effectively within project teams and liaise with clients. It is essential that you have an HNC plus 2 years of relevant work experience OR a Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. It is desirable that you have a full current Driving Licence and a Student membership of relevant professional Institute.
