Role Summary
As Supplier Quality Manager (SQM) you will be responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of suppliers within the aerospace manufacturing supply chain. You will ensure that all supplied materials, components and services meet stringent quality standards required by the aerospace industry and comply with relevant regulations and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and maintain supplier quality management processes to ensure compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP) and customer specifications.
* Conduct supplier audits, assessments and capability evaluations to qualify new and existing suppliers.
* Monitor supplier quality performance using KPIs such as SRPPM (Supplier Reject Parts Per Million), NCRs (Non‑Conformance Reports) and delivery performance. Identify trends and implement corrective actions.
* Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and drive supplier Zero Defects.
* Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier quality, including supply disruptions and non‑compliance.
* Maintain accurate records of supplier assessments, audits and quality performance. Prepare reports for internal stakeholders and customers.
* Liaise with procurement, engineering, production and quality teams to align supplier quality expectations and resolve issues.
* Provide guidance and training to suppliers on quality requirements and best practices.
* Ensure all supplier‑related activities comply with relevant aerospace regulations, corporate policies and industry standards.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards: AS9100, EASA P21G, EASA Part 145, NADCAP, and quality tools such as PFMEA, SPC and Root Cause Analysis.
* Experience with supplier auditing techniques and performance data analysis.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
* Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP and familiarity with quality management tools.
* Detail‑oriented, proactive, resilient and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
* Experience working with international suppliers and understanding global supply‑chain dynamics (preferred).
* Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements specific to the UK aerospace industry (preferred).
* Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).
