As a result, the school has developed a strong pastoral support structure and is now seeking a compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support pupils across Nursery, Reception, and Key Stage 1.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with children who experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour management, or social interaction. Pupils may present with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or attachment-related behaviours.
You will support children both in the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping them to build confidence, emotional awareness, and positive behaviour patterns.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 behavioural and emotional support
* Deliver small group interventions focused on social and emotional skills
* Support pupils within Nursery and classroom environments
* Assist with transitions and daily routines
* Support behaviour during unstructured times
* Implement behaviour support plans consistently
* Use play-based and trauma-informed strategies
* Collaborate with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
* Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress
* Contribute to review meetings and planning
* Build positive relationships with families and carers
* Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be patient, nurturing, and emotionally intelligent, with a strong commitment to supporting young children. You should be confident supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour and able to respond with empathy and consistency.
You should have:
* Experience working in a Primary, Nursery, or EYFS setting
* Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, or trauma-informed practice
* A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Emotional resilience and adaptability
Relevant experience in childcare, education, psychology, youth work, or mental health is highly desirable.
