We invite applications for 1 full-time (10 PAs + 10% R&R) Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Windsor Community Mental Health Team.

Main duties of the job
1. Lead, manage, and participate in decision-making within the Community Mental Health Team.
2. Supervise and support team members conducting patient assessments.
3. Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment.
4. Lead multidisciplinary reviews, CPA reviews, and team meetings.
5. Contribute to service development and evaluate its effectiveness.
6. Ensure management plans are documented and undertake administrative duties.
7. Foster relationships within the organization and with Clinical Commissioning Groups.
8. Act as responsible clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983, complying with its code of practice.
9. Conduct risk assessments and participate in risk management processes.
10. Maintain effective communication and collaborate with inpatient units, community teams, and primary care.
11. Engage with families, carers, and stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will provide consultative, supervisory, and supportive roles within the multidisciplinary team, mainly clinic-based but also including home visits as needed. Responsibilities include report writing and developing clinical interests aligned with Trust objectives.
You will be part of the team’s allocation process, responding flexibly to service needs. The role includes acting as the responsible clinician under the Mental Health Act, managing legal and ethical dilemmas, and supporting junior doctors.
You will contribute to clinical and medical leadership, liaising with GPs and other agencies to support collaborative working. Administrative time is allocated in the job plan.
A specialty doctor supports this post, and you will have opportunities to develop supervisory responsibilities for trainees. Training duties include teaching, supervising, and continuing professional development activities.
Quality assurance, clinical governance, and service evaluation are integral parts of the role, utilizing quality improvement methodologies to foster continuous improvement.
General duties include supervising junior staff, ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining professional registration, participating in service planning, and contributing to academic activities.
External duties involve engagement with regional and national groups, subject to approval.
The expected workload is 10 programmed activities over 5 days, with a review at three months to tailor the job plan. The on-call arrangement is a 1:15 rota, covering urgent assessments and decisions outside of routine clinical work.

* MB BS or equivalent
* Higher degree in medical education, research, or management

* GMC registration with a license to practice
* On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months
