Job Title: Youth Worker
Purpose & Objectives: Develop and deliver drop-in sessions, diversionary programmes, and activities to young people as part of a PEACEPLUS Project. Contribute to the strategic aims of enhancing the well-being of carers and children.
Location: Various Locations (considering home working or Strabane/L'Derry)
Salary: £28,000
Hours of Work: Hours per week, may include evenings and weekends
Duration: Fixed term until October 2026, subject to funding
Probationary Period: 9 months
Annual Leave: 5 working weeks, excluding bank holidays
Travel: Mileage at 40p per mile
Sickness Scheme: Statutory Sick Scheme
Access NI: Criminal records check required
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Provide a welcoming, safe, supportive, environment for young people.
2. Organise and deliver drop-in sessions, programmes, and activities.
3. Work on structured workshops, liaising with referral agents and supporting young people with additional needs.
4. Establish training programmes promoting good relations and peacebuilding.
5. Support young people individually and in groups, ensuring quality standards.
6. Provide confidential advice and assistance.
7. Assist in establishing a Steering Group for hard-to-reach young people.
8. Ensure educational materials and resources are available and well-maintained.
9. Maintain health and safety standards, including risk assessments.
10. Develop support packages and establish referral processes.
11. Create promotional materials and evaluation methods.
12. Support volunteers and seasonal staff, maintaining appropriate ratios.
13. Build relationships with supporting organizations.
14. Perform administrative tasks and record keeping.
15. Deliver presentations and speak at events.
16. Develop briefings, leaflets, and awareness programmes.
17. Respond to inquiries from parents, carers, and stakeholders.
18. Monitor and report on activities and outcomes.
19. Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding policies.
20. Participate in staff meetings and training.
21. Support fundraising initiatives and contribute to organizational strategy.
22. Perform other duties aligned with organizational goals.
