Join Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) and play a vital role in the safe decommissioning and environmental restoration of nuclear sites across the UK. We’re offering an exciting Level 6 Nuclear Scientist - Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, specialising in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, at our Oldbury Site in South Gloucestershire - where you’ll gain a full degree, hands-on experience, and expert mentorship, all while earning a salary. What Is the Apprenticeship? This Government-approved Level 6 Nuclear Scientist – Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship provides in-depth technical and academic training in Control & Instrumentation engineering for the nuclear sector. The programme includes: A portion of your time will be spent studying at Bridgwater and Taunton College Four days per week of practical, on-the-job training at the Oldbury nuclear site Mentoring from experienced Control & Instrumentation professionals Training in real-world nuclear environments where safety is paramount Location NRS Oldbury Site Oldbury Naite Oldbury-upon-Severn BS351RQ Working Hours Monday to Thursday, 07:15 - 17:00 (37 hours/week) (30-minute unpaid lunch) Why Choose an Apprenticeship at NRS? What We Offer: A fully supported, structured apprenticeship programme A recognised BEng (Hons) degree upon completion Real-world, hands-on experience alongside qualified professionals Long-term career prospects in the nuclear sector A chance to make a real impact on the UK’s environmental mission Key Responsibilities As a Control & Instrumentation Engineering Apprentice, you will: Support the design, maintenance, calibration, and operation of control and instrumentation systems Learn how instrumentation, sensors, and control systems ensure nuclear plant safety and reliability Assist with fault diagnosis, testing, and performance monitoring of plant systems Collaborate with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams Apply control and instrumentation principles to real-world challenges in nuclear safety and restoration Entry Requirements & What We’re Looking For We’re seeking motivated individuals with a strong interest in engineering, automation, and safety.
