What is the role?
Make a real impact every day as a Relief Care Assistant at Hafod.
We’re looking for kind, caring and reliable people to join our team. You’ll support people with daily living activities and personal care like washing, dressing, helping people use the bathroom as well as supporting with meals, wellbeing activities and routines.

We’re offering PT/FT hours with a range of shift options, including long days, early, late and night shifts across weekdays and weekends. We’ll talk through your availability and what works for you, while making sure we cover the shifts the home needs to provide the best care for our residents.
Some of our homes may have limited public transport links, and some shifts start early or finish late. You’ll therefore need reliable transport to and from work.
What you’ll be doing
* Provide personal and practical support to residents, including help with daily living, mobility, personal care such as washing, dressing and helping people use the bathroom, and offering general wellbeing support.
* Build positive, trusting relationships, offering kindness, conversation and emotional support to help residents feel safe and valued.
* Support residents to stay as independent as possible, encouraging choice and involvement in activities that matter to them.
* Digitally monitor and record care needs accurately, following care plans, reporting concerns and keeping colleagues informed.
* Work as part of a team, contributing to a warm, inclusive environment and following Hafod’s standards, policies and safeguarding responsibilities.

Previous care experience isn’t essential, your compassion, reliability and desire to help others are what count. We’ll teach you what you need, and you’ll have the chance to complete a QCF qualification in Health and Social Care, which is a recognised award that supports your skills and career development in Care.

About the home
Plas y Garn Care Home provides accommodation for over 65s in Pontypool, Torfaen. We focus on giving a great quality of life to our residents, whatever their abilities and needs are. Our team of specially trained staff provide tailored care to all of our residents, including those who require EMI care and those with dementia.
