About the role
As an Agile Delivery Manager (ADM) you will support, coach, and lead the Research and Innovation Lifecycle team to deliver meaningful change for the research and innovation community. The team’s remit spans operational aspects of the research and innovation lifecycle from grant preparation and submission to post-award financial management, in collaboration with other teams in RIO and across UCL. In this role, you will be partnering with Research and Innovation Services (RIS), which provides professional expertise, policy and process leadership, and sets professional standards for operational research and innovation support across UCL.
This role in particular requires and excellent stakeholder and communication skills, and to operate with credibility in a busy operational environment. A proven ability to deliver projects end to end in a complex environment is essential, as is the ability to adopt agile approaches to delivery (with support).
You will lead and facilitate stakeholder engagement, project (Epic) delivery and collaborative Agile ceremonies, motivating team members and wider stakeholders to achieve key outcomes. In this role, you will anticipate and mitigate risks, manage issues and dependencies, and remove blockers and impediments, fostering a ‘can do’ attitude and bringing clarity and purpose to delivery.
You will also lead your Product Team during Termly Increment (TI) Planning, as well as reporting on progress during termly ‘Inspect & Adapt’ and Vision sessions. You will work closely with other delivery managers, capability leads and RIS and RIO leadership, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships to deliver complex projects set out in UCL’s Strategic Plan -27 and emerging Digital Strategic Plan. You'll proactively communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders across the change portfolios and the UCL research and innovation community.
About you
As an experienced Agile Delivery or Project Manager, you have experience in delivering projects, with excellent facilitation, collaboration and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills (including the ability to persuade and influence stakeholders) are exceptional and you're naturally curious, always being proactive and looking to continuously improve how you and your team operate.
You will need excellent analytical and reporting skills, and a strong ability to work with financial information. You will be able to quickly build an understanding research and innovation operations and be able to get things done in a busy environment with conflicting priorities.
You will be adept at building relationships, leading delivery teams and enjoy a challenge, including scoping and business casing for strategic priorities. You will enjoy the opportunity to develop your skills and work with peers and you line manager to find creative solutions to challenges.
You can use Jira, Teams, Miro and other collaboration tools, and are confident with the budgeting and financial management of your team, always seeking to achieve value for money and benefits realisation. You manage risks and issues proactively, seeking to mitigate risk wherever possible, and manage interdependencies across the ISD portfolios and wider-UCL. Additionally, you have the confidence to represent your team and speak publicly, including leading Agile ceremonies, giving demos, and providing requested information and presentations to senior leadership.
You must have proven project management and delivery experience and a relevant qualification. Most of all, you will be committed to delivery of outcomes and benefits to the community, and inspire those around you to do the same.
