Job Description:
Key Responsibility Areas
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Liaise with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to fully understand the Request For Quotation (RFQ)
2. Understand the manufacturing processes to be utilised in the bid
3. Review and process supplier quotations to ensure they are compliant and will pass scrutiny under customer fact find or audit
4. Review recorded labour actuals to develop supportable manufacturing and support labour estimates
5. Generate learner calculations for manufacturing labour estimates
6. Generate ‘Bottom Up' Prime Hardware Estimates to support bid activities at all stages of the product lifecycle, includes material, assembly and test elements.
7. Incorporate functional phased labour estimates for support activities against an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
8. Develop Prime Hardware Estimates into Works Cost Estimates (WCEs)
9. Convert Works Cost Estimates into Selling Prices
10. Incorporate risk provisions from a risk register
11. Ensure compliance to CEPA guidelines and processes at all times during bid/proposal preparation
12. Ensure compliance to financial instructions when generating WCEs or selling prices
13. Ensure bid conforms to MoD/DoD practices/regulations
14. Support the bid team in generating Audit/Basis of Estimate packs to support proposals
15. Support the bid team during customer fact finds/negotiations without supervision
16. Present pertinent data to line manager or IPT
17. Analyse supplier CPD packs and support Procurement in generation of supplier Cost Analysis Reports
18. Support Procurement during supplier price negotiations without supervision
19. Identify potential areas for cost reduction to enhance business winning opportunities and feed back to the IPT
20. Provide assistance to the wider CEPA UK team when required
21. Provide cover for line manager
22. Coach and mentor team members within the function to assist with their development
23. Support apprentices/graduates on rotational placements in the function
24. Liaise with other functions to ensure accuracy of estimates and maintain process efficiency
25. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with cross functional colleagues, suppliers and customers
26. Promote a culture of best practice and knowledge sharing within the function
27. This is a flexible role requiring the Senior Cost Estimator & Price Analyst to work as part of a team while taking responsibility for key elements of the bid process.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required
Qualification at HNC level or equivalent, considerable experience as a Cost Estimator or in a similar role and possess the following:
