Fire – Principal or Associate Engineer

About Us
Our Fire Engineering group is a leading team of experts, many of whom are Chartered Engineers through the Institution of Fire Engineers. We work on iconic projects such as Heathrow Terminal 2, Doha metro, the Elephant and Castle redevelopment, the ExCeL extension, and Royal Hospital for Children. Our focus is on delivering world‑class fire safety design, supported by cutting‑edge research, training and a collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams.
The Role
* Develop and deliver fire safety design for buildings, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and guidance.
* Collaborate with colleagues across Hoare Lea and external clients, integrating other construction professionals’ requirements.
* Attend design team meetings, workshops, client briefings and site visits; provide technical input and progress updates.
* Use fire modelling software (evacuation, smoke, heat radiation, structural fire) to analyse and optimise designs.
* Maintain clear communication with project team members, ensuring feedback is acted upon promptly.
* Travel to UK sites and, when required, internationally to support project needs.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience in a fire engineering consultancy.
* Relevant degree or equivalent qualification (Engineering, Building Services, Maths, Architecture, Physics, etc.) with a strong interest in fire safety.
* Proficiency in fire modelling software and IT literacy.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Strong organisational and planning abilities, able to deliver on demanding timescales.
