About The Role

Role: Events Manager
Location: Chorley and South Ribble
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Salary: £43,693 - £44,711 (plus 6% car allowance)
Closing Date: 6 July 2025

Are you a creative and driven events professional ready to lead a dynamic programme of events that brings communities together and boosts the local visitor economy? Chorley and South Ribble Councils are looking for an enthusiastic Events Manager to join our team on a 12-month contract (covering maternity).

What you'll be getting up to

As Events Manager, you'll be at the heart of designing and delivering an exciting and diverse events programme across both boroughs. From community celebrations to large-scale public events, you'll ensure every occasion is safe, successful, and memorable. You will:

* Develop and manage a year-round events programme for both councils.
* Lead and inspire a team of Events Officers and Assistants.
* Oversee event planning, risk assessments, and health & safety compliance.
* Manage event budgets, sponsorships, and funding opportunities.
* Collaborate with internal teams, elected members, and external partners.
* Represent the councils at the Event Safety Advisory Group.
* Support and advise external event organisers and internal teams.

Who we're looking for

We're on the lookout for a passionate and experienced events professional who can bring creativity, leadership, and precision to our events programme. The ideal candidate will have:

* A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in events management or a related field.
* A proven track record with at least two years of experience delivering large-scale public events.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team to deliver high-quality, safe, and engaging events.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities, with a knack for solving problems calmly and effectively under pressure.
* In-depth knowledge of event planning processes, including health and safety legislation and sustainable event practices.
* A flexible and proactive mindset, with a strong customer focus and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, partners, and the public.

Other requirements

* This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
