Summary
Our dedicated, ultrafast network delivers the fastest widely available broadband speeds in the UK and Ireland. As a Principal Network Specialist it’s your job to maintain our network infrastructure and ensure that each of our residential and business customers can receive the phenomenal products and services that we’ve promised to deliver. This will include optimisation, fault resolution, and emergency restoration of service in a 24‑hour environment.
As a Principal Specialist, you’ll actively support the Network Operations Manager through technical excellence and team play – providing support in the planning and organising of the team and acting as an ambassador for your function! You’ll also deputise for the Network Operations Manager as the need arises.
You’ll pro‑actively take a lead role in mentoring and empowering the network engineering team, providing support with the training and development of your colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Maintain network infrastructure to support residential and business customers.
* Perform optimisation, fault resolution, and emergency restoration of service in a 24‑hour environment.
* Support the Network Operations Manager with planning and organising the team.
* Act as an ambassador for the function and deputise for the manager when required.
* Provide mentoring and empowerment to network engineering colleagues.
Requirements
* Experience working with and in remote or field based direct customer environments.
* Proven strong Excel skills.
* A demonstrable understanding of how to effectively lead, mentor and motivate a team.
* An in‑depth understanding of the HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) architecture.
* A consistent track record of working with hand & power tools.
* Expert knowledge of digital TV and broadband principles.
* Ability to demonstrate Health & Safety requirements.
