Location: Cambridge

Hours: 3-hour weekday shift & 3-hour weekend shift

Pay: £16.20 per hour weekday | £18.20 per hour weekends

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Brain Injury Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support to our client within a care home, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

About the Client:

Our client is in his 70s with a brain injury, following a scooter accident. He has weakness in the right arm and leg affecting mobility, suffers from vertigo, mild epilepsy, intermittent hearing loss, and tinnitus. He has a passion for trains and motorbikes, especially Harley Davidsons, which are essential shared interests for building rapport.

Since he resides in a care home, this role does not involve personal care, moving & handling, or clinical duties. You will work with his OT to provide therapeutic support, including being trained to give hand massages and engaging in companionship activities such as watching TV, reading, and walking in the garden, while assessing his engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide emotional support, therapeutic interaction, and companionship.
2. Maintain accurate records of care and report any changes in the client’s condition.
3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members for comprehensive care.

Requirements:

1. Experience in a similar role, preferably with brain injury experience.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Energetic, upbeat, and empathetic nature.
4. Interest in trains and motorbikes.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Flexibility to work the specified hours.

Benefits:

1. Supportive and friendly working environment.
2. Opportunities for professional development and training.
3. DBS paid for.
4. Excellent training program.
5. Blue Light Card eligibility.
