We are looking to recruit a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to work within our Acute Adult Inpatient Team. It is a varied role which will involve working closely and supporting your dietetic colleagues, as well as various multidisciplinary teams, to support patients under older people’s medicine, gastroenterology, neurology and stroke, respiratory, cardiology, oncology, surgery, and more! We offer regular supervision and opportunities for professional growth.

Role Summary
As a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner working within our Adult Acute Inpatient Team, you’ll be assisting the Dietitians to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care. You will take responsibility for the dietetic/nutritional management of patients on your caseload, in accordance with agreed pathways for care and direct and indirect supervision from a qualified Dietitian.
You will work with adult inpatients from a wide range of clinical specialties within the acute team, including medicine for the elderly, respiratory, oncology, gastroenterology, surgical and more. You will see patients requiring different levels of nutrition support including oral and enteral nutrition support.
Key Responsibilities
* Highly organized and forward thinking, contributing to service development and quality improvement projects, as well as participation in research and audit.
* Confident in delivering presentations and teaching sessions such as nutritional screening training to ward staff.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic and prepared to work flexibly in a busy environment.
1. To manage an allocated workload efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time, in accordance with agreed guidance/care pathways.
2. To gain valid informed consent prior to undertaking any clinical tasks. With support, to work within the legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
3. To manage, without direct supervision, own caseload of less complex patients triaged by the supervising dietitians.
* Carry out an initial assessment
* Implement and monitor/review a suitable nutritional treatment plan
* Refer on to dietitians if patient presents with problems outside the competency of the post holder
