We are seeking a Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Technologist to join our Advanced Materials team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Lucideon’s journey as we establish a National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Ceramics, working with world-leading equipment and pioneering science for an international client base.

Who You Are

You are an experienced materials scientist or engineer with significant post-academic industrial experience. You thrive at the intersection of science, innovation, and application, and you are driven by curiosity, communication, and collaboration. With a strong technical background in CMC materials and/or related advanced ceramics for harsh environments, you are motivated by solving tough engineering challenges and developing technologies that will shape the future.

We are looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to influence, persuade, and inspire, both internally within our teams and externally with our clients. Job Purpose

As a Ceramic Matrix Composite Technologist, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of advanced materials projects across sectors including aerospace, defence, energy, and beyond. You will work hands-on with ceramic matrix composites and related technologies, while also guiding colleagues and engaging with senior technical and commercial leaders from our clients.

This role offers a balance of technical innovation, project leadership, and people development, as you help shape the future of CMCs and other ultra-high-performance materials.


Core Responsibilities

* Lead and deliver technical projects in CMC development and processing, spanning experimental research through to client-driven applications.
* Apply your specialist knowledge in ceramics for harsh environments, ultra-high temperature ceramics, ceramics 3D printing, or other advanced ceramic technologies.
* Mentor and support junior scientists, apprentices, and graduates, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
* Collaborate closely with clients, providing insight into future material solutions and supporting their innovation strategies.
* Engage in hands-on experimentation and problem-solving using our advanced equipment and facilities.
* Contribute to building Lucideon’s National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Ceramics as a hub for world-class research and innovation.
* Represent Lucideon in client discussions, conferences, and technical forums, showcasing our expertise and influence.


Key Person Qualifications & Experience

* A degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, supported by significant post-academic industrial experience.
* Strong expertise in ceramic matrix composites and/or related advanced ceramic technologies.
* Proven practical skills in developing and processing advanced materials.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work across technical and commercial boundaries.
* Experience in project leadership and client engagement.
* A collaborative, curious mindset with the confidence to bring forward new ideas.
* Willingness to work on projects in sensitive sectors (defence, aerospace, etc.) and eligible for security clearance.


Core Features & Benefits

* Permanent position
* 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday
