Head of IT Projects – 12 Month FTC
Bath – Hybrid (2-3 days per week onsite)
Renowned Manufacturing Organisation are looking for a Head of IT Projects to lead a busy portfolio of IT and Business change projects during a period of exciting transition. This is a 12-month fixed term contract and will report to the Head of IT.
You'll take charge of a team of up to 6 Project Managers, delivering around 30 projects covering Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Digital Transformation, and Business Systems.
THE JOB
The Head of IT Projects will be responsible for:
Lead, coach and engage a team of Project Managers, building consistency and capability.
Stabilise delivery during a period of transition – quickly build relationships, understand challenges and drive solutions.
Deliver a diverse portfolio including WAN upgrades, global telephony, vulnerability management, HR & Finance Technology transformations, and digital initiatives.
Strengthen PMO frameworks, governance and resourcing processes to improve pipeline and delivery outcomes.
Monitor and report on KPIs, risks, budgets and progress to ensure predictability and value.
Manage complex senior stakeholders across IT and business functions, aligning projects to strategic priorities.
Bring strong commercial acumen – challenging vendors, ensuring value and embedding robust supplier management.
Collaborate with the CIO and leadership team to drive improvements and align IT with business needs.
Oversee third-party suppliers and partners to ensure delivery is on time, to quality and with appropriate governance.
YOU
The Head of IT Projects will have prior experience of:
Held the position of Head of IT Projects/Programmes (or similar leadership role) in fast paced environments
Have prior management experience of Project Managers
Track record of managing multiple complex IT Transformations in a fast paced environment
Pragmatic with project methodologies – Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid.
Strong knowledge of project management tools & processes
Excellent at managing senior stakeholders and building credibility.
Strong leader and coach – able to raise capability and maturity in project delivery.
Commercially savvy with experience of managing suppliers.
Excellent written and oral skills
