Car Systems Engineer – McLaren Hypercar Programme
United Autosports – Full Time | Global Travel | Technical Leadership Role
We are seeking a Car Systems Engineer to join the McLaren Hypercar Programme — a highly technical, multi-disciplinary role that works between engineering and mechanical operations to ensure the car's systems are installed, configured and functioning exactly as intended.
This is a hands-on trackside role for a highly capable engineer with strong systems knowledge and excellent mechanical awareness.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the physical installation, validation and reliability of all onboard systems — wiring looms, sensors, harness routing, connectors, power units, cooling circuits, brake systems, hydraulics and electronic/hybrid interfaces.
You will also be the first line of technical support when issues arise trackside.
What You'll Be Doing
* Installing, validating and signing off car systems during build cycles.
* Working closely with Systems Engineers, HV Engineers, Controls, No1 Mechanics and Race Engineering.
* Performing detailed car checks: continuity, pinout, torque, routing and clearance verification.
* Diagnosing faults rapidly and safely during live events.
* Maintaining documentation for system processes, inspection routines and configuration controls.
* Ensuring mechanical-system integration is repeatable and stable across the season.
What You'll Bring
* Experience as a car systems, electronics or mechatronics engineer in elite motorsport.
* Strong mechanical understanding paired with systems/electronics competence.
* Excellent diagnostic skills and calmness under pressure.
* Strong communication and ability to work across multiple disciplines.
* Readiness for global travel and long technical days.
If you want to be at the centre of Hypercar engineering execution, this is your role.
