Position
Design Engineer – REF 2606
The Role
Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Water design team. The successful candidate will develop essential engineering, communication, and project delivery skills transferable across any engineering project, while gaining exposure to all aspects of project delivery as the career progresses.
* Work within a multidisciplinary design team, including Mechanical, Civil, E&I, CP, and drafting specialists.
* Design from the conceptual phase through to project completion.
* Develop Preliminary and Detailed Design reports, calculations, and drawings.
* Produce design drawings, mechanical plant selection, and technical specifications.
* Generate plant layouts (2D & 3D), technical specifications, Wimes datasheets, equipment schedules, and P&IDs.
* Prepare the design for mechanical installations, typically at municipal water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment plants.
* Conduct hydraulic calculations for gravity and pumped systems, including pumping system analysis and pump selection.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and Health & Safety regulations.
* Attend progress meetings with the Water design team, clients, contractors, and suppliers.
* Undertake site visits to conduct surveys and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
* Engineering degree (Honours bachelor's or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* At least 3 years of post‑graduate experience.
* Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of hydraulics design packages (Infoworks or Hades) is beneficial.
* Strong academic record.
* Full, clean driving licence and own transport.
* Fluent written and spoken English.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
