Position: Production EngineerLocation: West Sussex (RH20)Reporting to: Production Engineering Manager
About The Role
We're seeking a proactive, solutions-driven Production Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, multi-discipline role focused on problem-solving, training, documentation and process improvement. You'll support operators, optimise processes and improve facilities across multiple product lines to drive quality and efficiency.
You'll be part of a highly capable team delivering practical, creative solutions that save time, reduce downtime and enhance operator performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support across all production units in the Gradients Division.- Deliver operator training to ensure clear, practical knowledge transfer.- Participate in product builds during induction to gain in-depth knowledge.- Diagnose and resolve operator faults, downtime and process inefficiencies.- Write and simplify documentation and handover notes, supporting ESL operators.- Optimise facilities, tooling and equipment to improve productivity.- Create and manage Bills of Materials, liaising with purchasing and building cost cases.- Lead and support multiple projects, managing priorities and deadlines.- Act as a service provider to internal teams, building strong stakeholder relationships.- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders on continuous improvements.- Support weekly team routines (e.g., Monday huddles, Friday reviews).- Uphold health & safety standards in all activities.
Skills & Experience
* Strong background in manufacturing/production engineering; cell-led environments advantageous.- Hands-on with tools and a "make it happen" mindset.- CAD/drawing skills (SolidWorks or Solid Edge desirable).- Experience with machine shop or cell-type engineering preferred.- Knowledge of electrical testing beneficial.- Understanding of 5S and lean principles desirable.- Awareness of project management, timelines and deliverables.- Excellent documentation and communication skills.- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety in manufacturing.
