Job Title: Design Engineer
As a design engineer, you'll develop ideas for new products and production systems, and improve the performance and efficiency of existing products.
1. Qualifications: Ideally, candidates will have a degree and a minimum of 3 years industrial experience. Candidates with other qualifications and relevant engineering design experience are also encouraged to apply.
2. Main Responsibilities:
* Transform research ideas into detailed production designs.
* Re-engineer existing designs to enhance manufacturability.
* Prepare engineering reports, production specifications, and drawings.
* Ensure designs comply with trailer legislation, safety, and good practice standards.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews.
* Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles.
1. Skills and Knowledge:
* Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk products.
* Knowledge of MS Office and in-house systems.
* Understanding of stress/loading calculations, FEA, and fatigue stress.
* Familiarity with trailer manufacturing processes and customer needs.
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to work outside normal hours and awareness of design cost impacts.
2. Additional Requirements:
* Must be eligible to work legally in the UK; evidence required.
* Adherence to health and safety policies.
* Dependability, honesty, and punctuality.
