<div><h3>Overall Job Role</h3><ul><li>To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0–5 years.</li><li>To support the Room Leader with the effective day-to-day running of the room.</li><li>To ensure the room, resources and environment are safe, stimulating and appropriate for children, staff and visitors.</li><li>To develop positive partnerships with parents/carers to support childrens learning and development.</li><li>To act as a Key Person, observing, assessing and planning for individual children in line with the EYFS.</li></ul><h3>Duties</h3><ul><li>To support the Room Leader in the effective daily operation of the room.</li><li>To have a sound knowledge of nursery policies, procedures and expectations.</li><li>To act as a positive role model for children and colleagues, demonstrating high-quality practice at all times.</li><li>To maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and security throughout the nursery.</li><li>To plan, deliver and evaluate activities that support childrens learning and development in line with the EYFS.</li><li>To complete accurate observations, assessments and planning for key children, ensuring they make good progress.</li><li>To maintain childrens learning journals and developmental records.</li><li>To build warm, professional relationships with parents and carers, sharing information regarding childrens development and wellbeing.</li><li>To support children with additional needs and work alongside external professionals where required.</li><li>To uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.</li><li>To promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the setting.</li><li>To contribute to team meetings, training and continuous professional development.</li><li>To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency of practice across the nursery.</li><li>To undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by management.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications (Essential)</h3><ul><li>Full and relevant Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification.</li><li>Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).</li><li>GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.</li></ul><h3>Relevant Experience and Skills (Essential)</h3><ul><li>Experience of working in an early years setting.</li><li>Experience of being a Key Person.</li><li>Good understanding of child development from birth to five years.</li><li>Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare requirements.</li><li>Experience of observation, assessment and planning.</li><li>Ability to work effectively within a team.</li></ul><h3>Personal Style and Behaviour (Essential)</h3><ul><li>Excellent communication skills with children, parents and colleagues.</li><li>Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.</li><li>Good organisational and time management skills.</li><li>Ability to work on own initiative.</li><li>Calm, caring and professional approach.</li><li>Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible.</li><li>Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.</li></ul><h3>Other Useful Skills (Desirable)</h3><ul><li>Paediatric First Aid.</li><li>Safeguarding Training.</li><li>Food Hygiene Certificate.</li><li>SEN experience.</li><li>Experience supporting children with additional needs.</li></ul></div>
