The purpose of this R&D Manager role is to lead delivery of the R&D nutrition strategy for Sweet Treats, shaping future direction in response to changing consumer needs and external influences. You will also identify ingredients and processes that unlock competitive advantage and opportunity in terms of our broader ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda. (Clean, healthy, sustainable).
What we need from you:
* Strong line management skills with a proven track record in delivering the R&D agenda through a high-performance team.
* Ideally R&D experience in Ambient Cake, Patisserie, Confectionery or Sweet Baked Goods - cake technology.
* 3+ years R&D / Nutrition/Applications
* BSc/MSc in Food Science/Nutrition or related degree
* Understanding of Ingredient Functionality, recipe formulation, and manufacturing scale processing.
* Understanding of Food & labelling legislation
* Cake technology awareness is advantageous
What you'll be doing:
Innovation: Responsible for delivering nutrition-focused projects from ideation through to launch – propagating new tools and upskilling the broader sweet team as appropriate.
Nutrition: Actively manage the Nutrition profile of the Sweet Treats Portfolio – aligned with broader business strategy, and in collaboration with the Company Nutritionist. Maintain Brand Footprints – ensuring relevance and driving compliance - through training and proactive communication across categories. Support the Company Nutritionist as required.
Ingredients/Formulation: Provide technical expertise and guidance for ingredient functionality, recipe balance, process & application. Unlock ingredient/formulation/process solutions through structured and scientific approaches. Engage suppliers and area experts as appropriate, in support of Innovation, Holistic Margin Management & ESG/clean label programmes.
Core Renovation projects: Guide R&D team to incorporate clean label and nutrition improvements into existing products. Bring Brand Footprints to life, and empower the broader team through education and upskilling regarding new ingredients, processes, and applications.
Team Leadership: Lead the team to deliver objectives through empowerment and development of skills. Role model Premier Leadership Behaviours: Think Big, Drive Change, Act Together, Stay Curious, Spark Brilliance, and inspire Ownership.
