An exciting opportunity has become available to join our dedicated Street Lighting Team at Warwickshire County Council. We’re looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to take on the role of Street Lighting Engineer, helping us maintain and improve lighting infrastructure across the county. About the Role As a Street Lighting Engineer, you will: Conduct on-site inspections and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of street lighting systems. Collaborate closely with fellow engineers and our term maintenance contractor to ensure lighting systems operate efficiently and cost-effectively. Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards and to a consistently high quality. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and installations, reporting issues to relevant teams. Be flexible with working hours and locations, as the role may require work outside of standard hours and away from your designated base. Key Requirements To succeed in this role, you’ll need: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent planning, organisation, and IT capabilities. A proactive approach to contributing to technical developments within the council, the wider industry, and relevant professional bodies. About Us Street Lighting is a well-established and integral part of Warwickshire County Council’s County Highways Service. With an annual budget of approximately £6 million, our Street Lighting Team works in partnership with a term maintenance contractor to manage and maintain over 60,000 illuminated assets across Warwickshire. These include streetlights, illuminated bollards, traffic signs, and vehicle-activated signs. The team also plays a key role in design work, collaborating with our in-house Design Services and external developers on Section 38 and Section 278 schemes, as well as supporting infrastructure projects related to HS2.
