HGV Technician - Temporary Contract

Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Contract Length: 8 Weeks
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £18.35 PAYE inc Holiday, or £21.69 Ltd Umbrella per hour
Candidate Responsibilities as an HGV Technician As an HGV Technician, your daily responsibilities will include:
Carrying out maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of HGVs, light vehicles, and road-going plant machinery
Preparing vehicles for annual MOT inspections and conducting safety checks to DVSA standards
Diagnosing faults across hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including welding, fabrication, and body repairs
Attending breakdowns or accident-damaged vehicles to perform temporary or permanent repairs
Providing technical advice to internal teams and external clients
Supporting research, improvement projects, and service enhancement initiatives, including monitoring performance and budgets
Managing workshop administration, record-keeping, and documentation
Overseeing contracts, certifications, and project expenditures to ensure quality standards are met
Supervising and supporting a small team, planning workloads, and delivering training as needed
Preparing reports, action plans, and management information to support operational decisions
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external agencies
Candidate Requirements for the HGV Technician Role To succeed as an HGV Technician, candidates should possess:
City & Guilds or IMI Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Motor Vehicle Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
Full UK driving license
Proven experience in fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance of HGVs and related systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent organisational and communication skills
A solid understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop setting
Flexibility to work out of hours on occasion, including emergency call-outs
