Consultant Neuro-Diagnostic Radiologist The closing date is 26 May 2026.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant Diagnostic Neuro Radiologist with an interest in Head and Neck Imaging to join a team of six neuro‑radiologists in a busy dynamic department of 48 full‑time equivalent radiology consultants delivering first class emergency and non‑acute services.
Main duties of the job This is a permanent full time Neuroradiology post which, in conjunction with six other Consultant Neuroradiology colleagues, will provide a comprehensive neuroradiology and head and neck service to the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Successful applicants will contribute to a 1:7 diagnostic neuro on‑call rota, scheduling of sessions is by mutual agreement, and will be involved in all acute imaging underpinning the trauma, vascular and stroke services.
A desirable but not essential attribute would be the ability to contribute to service for US, fluoroscopy and CT guided intervention, including US guided FNA and biopsy sessions supported by cytology technicians and appropriately trained nursing staff.
Qualifications
Full registration with the GMC and having or eligible for entry on the Specialist register within six months
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following:
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) – the proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview
Eligible for Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) – CESR must have been submitted by day of interview
European Community White Card
Awards/distinctions whilst studying for first degree
Academic and extracurricular achievements
ALS certification
Clinical Experience & Training
Neuroradiology sub‑specialty training
Completed full time training in radiology
Ability to teach clinical skills to medical staff and students, and other disciplines
Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems within the speciality
Willingness to develop skills to fit in with current establishment and service needs
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
Ability to motivate and develop the multi‑disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
Ability to support the Clinical Director of Imaging
Head and neck imaging dedicated experience / fellowship
Minor and medium spine and ultrasound guided neck intervention
Ability to perform US, fluoroscopy and CT guided intervention
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
Interest in and willingness to develop teaching abilities and activities
An awareness of current speciality specific developments, initiatives and issues
Experience of conducting clinical audit
Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision‑making
Ability to organise and apply research outcomes and work within research governance procedures
Evidence of having undertaken original research
Publications in peer‑reviewed journals
