Responsibilities of a Special Needs Assistant: Provide one-on-one and group support to children with special educational needs Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCO. Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively, promoting a safe and positive learning environment. Assist with personal care and other physical needs where necessary. Observe and monitor student progress, reporting any concerns to relevant staff members. Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic growth. Support children in accessing the curriculum and maintaining engagement in lessons.Skills of a Special Needs Assistant: Previous experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children who may have additional emotional or physical needs. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
